There will not be a general meeting nor a Civil3D SIG meeting in the month of December for the Southwest Florida Autodesk Professionals user group. We are working on plans for January but due to the New Years holiday we will either cancel the general meeting or move it to another date.

The November 2009 meeting of the Southwest Florida Civil3D User Group is Wednesday, November 11th. Brian Morse from Advanced Surveying Technology will lead a discussion on optimizing your computer to work with Civil 3D, but much of the recommendations can be applied to other versions of AutoCAD. Discussion will cover 32 bit versus 64 bit operating systems, hardware, software settings and optimal data management techniques. This is a great opportunity to find out how to get more out of your computer.

About the Speaker

Brian Morse began his extensive CAD experience as an AutoCAD/DCA user in the late 1980’s working on land development projects. He spent 6 years providing technical support at Softdesk (and Autodesk) on their Civil/Survey products. Mr. Morse moved to Florida to provide training and support for another Autodesk reseller for 4 years. Prior to acquiring Advanced Surveying Technology, Mr. Morse owned and operated BrianMorse.com for 4 years as an independent CAD consultant.

National CAD Standards - A Plans Production Overview

The next general meeting will be an overview of the National CAD Standards. Brian Morse of Advanced Surveying Technology will lead the discussion.This meeting will be held at Southwest Florida College, at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Deleon Street in Fort Myers. Annotative Annotation (Text, Dimensions, Leaders, Blocks, & Hatches)

The next general meeting will be a discussion on annotative features in AutoCAD. Bill Godette of Advanced Surveying Technology will be on hand to lead the discussion about this new AutoCAD feature and to show you how these tools can be used in your office.

This meeting will be held at our normal general meeting location, the Lee County Port Authority Airport Training and Conference Center located at the Southwest Florida International Airport, 15924 Air Cargo Lane, off Chamberlin Parkway in Fort Myers, Florida. Access to this facility is from the entrance to the OLD Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. From I-75 take Daniels Parkway East and veer right on Chamberlain towards the old airport terminal. Watch for “Training Facility” signs which will be the first right. Go South towards the new airport and you’ll take a right just before the runways. See our location map for directions.

Doors will open at 5:30 PM and the main presentation will start around 6:00 PM. Come early and network with other AutoCAD professionals and meet our local AutoCAD dealers. Admission to the meeting is free!

Raffle ticket sales help cover our expenses. We do appreciate if you purchase a few raffle tickets to help us keep the meetings free. We are working on obtaining some new door prizes for this meeting. June 10, 2009 Civil3D SIG

The June 2009 meeting of the Southwest Florida Civil3D User Group is Wednesday, June 10th at the Lee County Public Works building in Fort Myers at 1500 Monroe Street. Discussion will be led by Jeffrey Smith, and others to be announced.

Free parking will be by the building, and we will meet in the first floor conference room (1-B) . Snacks and drinks will be provided. We will have a working CAD system projecting AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009 onto the screen, enabling us to see the software and its backup systems demonstrated on a live network.

Bring your best drawing (Thumb drive or CD) you want to share done in any “flavor” of AutoCAD to compete for prizes. This will be done in two stages from 5:30pm until 6:00pm it will be the intro beginner level discussion of Vault in a stand alone installation. Then from 6:00pm until 7:00 pm we will go into the Vault further and how to recover onto another system if needed. After that “personal networking” and the judging of the drawings will go on until 7:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
